House Flipper 2 review: "More satisfying than ever"

house flipper 2

It's dry, flavorless, and about as complex as a one-way street, but it does exist, which is already an improvement from the first House Flipper. You'd be forgiven for not caring about this game's story as it isn't really the focus, but there's wasted potential here. Similar simulation games like Model Builder and Power Wash Simulator also have this problem, so I guess this isn't too humiliating a remark to give.

Sometimes, you’ll also be contacted by Gladys Thorne, who seems much stricter than your friend Tom. Not everyone has a beefcake of a setup, so the budget gamers out there should be relieved to hear that this game isn't the most taxing to most rigs. Granted, those on the low end would still be playing at minimum settings, but that's actually quite okay considering that you'd never be doing anything more complex than clicking and dragging for this game's entirety. Its blocky animated aesthetic also helps because things won't really look that different at lower resolutions.

In House Flipper 2, there's a lot more variety when it comes to jobs so you're not constantly doing up houses and recycling the same bits of furniture. Like in the original game, the aim is to purchase houses, renovate them, and sell them for profit. There's also a tonne of odd jobs for our flipper character to complete which earns you cash to invest in your future projects, as well as a sandbox mode so you can create the home of your dreams. I've converted a cafe into a book shop, refurbished a beach cabin, and given a grandmother somewhere suitable for her grandson to stay.

Hammer it Home

In fact, If flipping houses was this easy in real life, I would have picked up a paint roller long ago. That's where 2018's House Flipper from Empyrean and Frozen District came into play. The blue-collar job simulator became an outlet for creativity, giving players the keys to their very own homes and arming them with paint rollers and sledgehammers so they could renovate as they (or their customers) saw fit.

High Sea Saga DX

Sandbox mode allows you to build houses from scratch with no limitations on how much you can spend. In sandbox mode you can 'fly' around the plot and go through walls for easier wall building, and actions can be undone with Ctrl + Z. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys cleaning up in real life, aspiring interior designers, builders, or anyone who just wants a calm, relaxing game about making houses look prettier. This game offers a lot of creative options and satisfying house cleanups for something that will only set you back $20. While you're somewhat restricted in progression for the main story mode, Sandbox Mode is where you can let your imagination run amok and rake up all the gameplay value that House Flipper 2 has to offer. I'm so glad Frozen District has given us more freedom when it comes to the types of projects we take on.

She's a lifelong artist with two decades of experience in digital painting, and she will happily talk your ear off about budget pen displays. House Flipper 2 can be played with a controller or keyboard and mouse. Personally, I find using the controller to navigate character movement mixed with mouse input for navigating menus and shops to be a preferred input setup, and House Flipper 2 worked with that arrangement just fine. There are no options to rebind the controller buttons, but keyboard bindings can be changed easily in the menu. For me, House Flipper 2 absolutely nails the flow state that makes this type of sim game such an all-encompassing way to spend your gaming time. The dopamine hits come in little waves, you’d have to be trying very hard to fail, and the stakes are so low that worms tease them about their height.

Occasionally I had to reposition and balance on furniture, and agonisingly adjust the mouse cursor to position ornaments on high shelves. Put an item in the wrong place and it can usually be moved with little trouble. There's no real way to delete things, so you either have to sell or replace errant items.

BUILD YOUR HOUSE FROM THE GROUND UP!

I do find it hilarious that some of the houses you're working on hold more narrative potential than the actual person you're playing. Despite the labor-intensive jobs that blue-collar simulators are often based on, the genre generally tends to be focused on laid-back gameplay with satisfying results. House Flipper 2 falls into that trend, leaving little in the way of stressful mechanics for players to trip over and instead giving them the freedom to interact with the world on their own terms. To work your magic there’s a radial menu of tools from cleaning to demolition, a store where you buy materials like wallpaper, furniture, and plants, all equipping you to go through the house ticking off tasks in each room. It keeps track of what you need to paint, what furniture needs to go in that room, and house many stains are left to scrub, but it’s a gentle master. It might tell you how many chairs and lamps a room needs, and what kind, but it’s not marking you on your feng shui or anything.

"I would be very surprised if we have a turnout rate like we saw in 2020," McDonald said. Tiling in HF2 demo requires a layer of adhesive to be applied to the wall before tiles can be fitted. Achieved by clicking and dragging over each square in the area that needs tiles, optionally an area can be selected beforehand so that the player doesn't affect areas the don't intend to.

The perk progression system now has easier-to-understand descriptions and demo videos so you know which one to pick. Tools can be upgraded through perks and keeping track of your progress for each perk tree is denoted by a handy EXP bar. This game plays like a breeze and I'm yet to experience a clean-up as satisfying as this. House Flipper 2 is the kind of game you just lose yourself to over a weekend. You think you're only going to play a few missions or flip a house or two and call it good for a while.

I am glad, however, that the roaches from House Flipper 1 are gone, replaced with broken glass and leaves to vacuum up instead. For the soundtrack, House Flipper 2's background music has a bit of a cheerful "elevator music" vibe going for it. While the songs aren't something that would stand out or take over your Spotify wrapped, they do fit the theme and set the tone of the game. The recommended specs for the PC version of House Flipper 2 include an AMD Ryzen 5 3rd gen or Intel Core i5 10th gen with an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070. For this review, I played House Flipper 2 on my system, which includes a Ryzen X and RTX 3070Ti.

You'll also want to please your clients, who are a more overt presence this time around, thanks to the phone calls that pop up as you work. Choose the Story Mode, where you will delve into engaging renovation projects or some quick jobs. The House Flipper 2 official release date trailer sees the player painting, cleaning, tiling, hoovering, and more as they make their home renovation dreams a reality. We also get to see how to knock down walls and build them back up, as well as the ability to choose the size of our paint roller, so we can get the job done quicker than ever. Playing House Flipper 2, after dedicating so many hours to the original home renovation sim, gives me the same satisfaction as doing up an actual property.

As you check off items from the to-do list, a star rating will gradually increase. Filling in one star completely will allow you to end the task and take what money you have earned. However, if you want to max out your earnings for a project, you will need to fill in all three stars and complete all (or nearly all) of the items on the list. House Flipper 2 falls into what I like to call the "blue-collar simulator" genre. These games are often focused on everyday blue-collar work that has a satisfying element involved. It's right at home with other blue-collar titles like Lawn Mowing Simulator, Farming Simulator 22, and Power Wash Simulator.

While some states consider tiny or small houses an accessory dwelling unit (ADU), others like California, Colorado, Oregon, Florida, Texas, and more, have highly flexible zoning and building codes. These regulations allow small house floor plans as a traditional, single-family unit. These professionally drawn tiny house plans come with drawings, designs, and more to help you build this simple (yet attractive) 1,377-square-foot modern cottage. With its open kitchen design, two bedrooms, one bathroom, and spacious back deck, this tiny house could quickly become the place you call home. The limited style space allows designers to exercise great creativity to design a functional living space.

Tiny Cabin Plans

Depending on your budget, there are affordable options that still have a lot to offer but they often have a small total living space. Luxury plans cost more and they are also larger, making it suitable for those who can spend a bit more for comfort. This simple house plan has a massive 23’9″x31’5″ shop with a 12′ wall height attached to its side.

simple home design plans

Due to the simple fact that these homes are small and therefore require less material makes them affordable home plans to build. Other styles of small home design available in this COOL collection will include traditional, European, vacation, A-frame, bungalow, craftsman, and country. Our affordable house plans are floor plans under 1300 square feet of heated living space, many of them are unique designs. If you love modern homes, then these one-story tiny house floor plans might be for you. Enjoy tiny house living with this charming 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom cottage.

But, of course, there's a range in the actual cost to build the home depending on the small house design, the materials, the location, the time of year, and several other factors. Tiny homes, houses between 100 to 500 square feet, are typically considered the cheapest to build. The achievement of homeownership is even more possible as our designers create practical small home plans and tiny home floor plans that are below 1,000 square feet. A good set of plans will either have detailed schematics and illustrations or photos that include measurements. In addition, materials and tools lists are helpful, as well as instructions. Look for plans that contain not just finished measurements, but also measurements for each cut, a cut list, and an overview of how to make the cuts with the lumber included in the materials list.

This reversible memory foam mattress topper offers five-zone support for your head, body, and feet and creates unmatched comfort and sleep. The gel-infused memory foam and open-cell technology work together for better airflow and heat control throughout the night, too. According to one shopper, the pad “feels like a cloud” while offering “just the firmness” they need. Others said it feels like “a whole new mattress” and that their “back pain is almost gone” after just a few nights on the topper. The ventilation and heat distribution technology will also keep you dry and comfortable throughout the night.

Look for large windows, inviting as much natural lighting as possible into the space, and high, vaulted ceilings that provide the illusion of more space. Despite the smaller square footage, homeowners don't have to compromise on popular, highly sought-after features in modern architecture. You'll still find clean lines and minimalism in most modern small house plans. Their inherent creativity means you can choose any style of home and duplicate it in miniature proportions. Colonial style designs, for example, lend themselves well to the tiny house orientation because of their simple, rectangular shape. There is some overlap with contemporary house plans with our modern house plan collection featuring those plans that push the envelope in a visually forward-thinking way.

Sometimes the simplest forms provide the backdrop for a warm, elegant home. All of our house plans can be modified to fit your lot or altered to fit your unique needs. Your yard, deck, or patio can always be made more comfy with some good chairs. For a modern look, you can try this set of plans from The Creative Mom on the Kreg website.

At the same time, designs that offer a lot of living space on one floor will take up a lot of horizontal space and you might need a bigger lot. With these small house floor plans, you can make the lovely 1,020-square-foot Sugarbush Cottage your new home—or home away from home. The construction drawings included in the file meet the code requirements and architectural standards for most jurisdictions. This two-story house offers two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living room, and an eat-in kitchen. If you’re looking for small house plans with porches, these contemporary tiny house plans may be right for you. The expansive front porch spans the entire width of the house, offering plenty of space to sit and enjoy the great outdoors.

You'll find thousands of ready-made symbols for fixtures, furniture, wiring, plumbing, and more are ready to be stamped and dropped on your home map. This simple 2x4 bench from Construct 101 is a project you could probably complete in a day. It comes with build drawings, materials and cut lists, and step-by-step instructions with illustrations. The only drawback to the materials list is that it lists the number of boxes of screws you will need instead of the number of screws. Make sure to double check that your count is accurate before heading to the hardware store. There’s also a reclined 2x6 bench plan from Rogue Engineer that comes with drawings, a materials and tools list, and illustrated instructions. If you’d rather have a couch than a bench, you can try your hand at building this outdoor sofa from Angela Marie Made.

If there isn’t a materials list, you should be able to easily calculate what you’ll need from the included dimensions and drawings. If the plans don’t have this info, chances are the instructions aren’t very good. Our budget friendly small house plans offer all of today's modern amenities and are perfect for families, starter houses, and budget-minded builds. Small, often times single-story home including all the necessities of a kitchen, dining room, and living room. Typically includes one or two bedrooms and will not exceed more than 1,300 square feet. It usually includes a living room, dining area, kitchen, one or two bedrooms, and a bathroom.

Most concrete block (CMU) homes have 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 exterior walls on the 2nd story. To better target the plans that meet your expectations, please use the different filters available to you below.

3 1: Factorial Designs Statistics LibreTexts

These different formats can make the data look different, even though the pattern in the data is the same. An important skill to develop is the ability to identify the patterns in the data, regardless of the format they are presented in. Some examples of bar and line graphs are presented in the margin, and two example tables are presented below. To briefly add to the confusion, or perhaps to illustrate why these two concepts can be confusing, we will look at the eight possible outcomes that could occur in a 2x2 factorial experiment. It is necessary that we bring variousissues to your attention and obtain your agreement. Please sign and date this agreement andreturn it to me along with your payment.

1 Setting Up a Factorial Experiment

In the notation of Morse (1991), concurrence is indicated by a “+” between components (e. g., QUAL + quan), while sequentiality is indicated with a “→” (QUAL → quan). Note that the use of capital letters for one component and lower case letters for another component in the same design suggest that one component is primary and the other is secondary or supplemental. By default the aov() function provides a test of your statisticalmodel using Type I Sums of Squared Errors, whereas the ezANOVA()function provides a test of your statistical model using Type III Sumsof Squared Errors. In a completely orthogonal design where all factorsare statistically independent of each other (i.e., there is nocollinearity), the Type I and Type III Sums of Squared Errors willagree. By default, R also uses treatment coding (or “dummy” coding) forcategorical factors rather than orthogonal contrast codes. A design which manipulates one independent variable between subjects and another within subjects.

mixed factorial design

Nonmanipulated Independent Variables

mixed factorial design

Because we now have two crossed factors, we need to account not onlyfor the fact that we have multiple observations for each participant, but we have multiple observations for each person at each level of eachfactor. The example in Figure 5.15 shows a case in which it is probably a bit more straightforward to interpret both the main effects and the interaction. Any revisions or updates made by the owner, builder, their architect, or draftsperson are theirresponsibility.

3 - The Two Factor Mixed Models

A multilevel mixed design is more complex ontologically, because it involves multiple levels of reality. For example, data might be collected both at the levels of schools and students, neighborhood and households, companies and employees, communities and inhabitants, or medical practices and patients (Yin 2013). Integration of these data does not only involve the integration of qualitative and quantitative data, but also the integration of data originating from different sources and existing at different levels. Little if any published research has discussed the possible ways of integrating data obtained in a multilevel mixed design (see Schoonenboom 2016). Typological and interactive approaches to mixed methods research have been presented as mutually exclusive alternatives.

\(3^k-p\) designs - Fractional Factorial 3-level Designs

The interactive approach of Maxwell is a very powerful tool for conducting research, yet this approach is not specific to mixed methods research. Maxwell’s interactive approach emphasizes that the researcher should keep and monitor a close fit between the five components of research design. Essential elements of the design process, such as timing and the point of integration are not covered by Maxwell’s approach. This is not a shortcoming of Maxwell’s approach, but it indicates that to support the design of mixed methods research, more is needed than Maxwell’s model currently has to offer. The common complexity of mixed methods design poses a problem to the above typologies of mixed methods research.

Why Are People Choosing Multi-Family House Plans?

Again, because neither independent variable in this example was manipulated, it is a non-experimental study rather than an experimental design. This is important because, as always, one must be cautious about inferring causality from non-experimental studies because of the threats of potential confounding variables. For example, an effect of participants’ moods on their willingness to have unprotected sex might be caused by any other variable that happens to be correlated with their moods. In addition to a mixing purpose, a mixed methods research study might have an overall “theoretical drive” (Morse and Niehaus 2009).

Two case studies

One possibility is to carry out further research (Cook 1985; Greene and Hall 2010). One can also look for a more comprehensive theory, which is able to account for both the results of the first component and the deviating results of the second component. However, the four possible points of integration used by Teddlie and Tashakkori (2009) are still too coarse to distinguish some types of mixing. Extending the definition by Guest (2013), we define the point of integration as “any point in a study where two or more research components are mixed or connected in some way”. Then, the point of integration in the two examples of this paragraph can be defined more accurately as “instrument development”, and “development of the sample”. This would generate the analysis since \(A\ |\ B\ |\ C\) expands to all main effects and all interactions in GLM of Minitab.

Because of the sum of interaction effects over the levels of the fixed factor equals zero, this version of the mixed model is called the restricted model. There exists another model which does not include such a restriction and is discussed later. Neither of these models is "correct" or "wrong" - they are both theoretical models for how the data behave. They have different implications for the meanings of the variance components. The unrestricted model is often used for more general designs that include continuous covariates and repeated or spatially correlated measurements. The second dimension is theoretical drive in the sense that Morse and Niehaus (2009) use this term.

We expect that many published MM designs will fall into the hybrid design type. Most commonly, integration takes place in the results point of integration. At some point in writing down the results of the first component, the results of the second component are added and integrated.

In psychology, a single person is usually the experimentalunit (hence “within-subject” variables) whereas in agronomy or biology aphysical area might be the unit of analysis (hence “split-plot”variables). The more general way to talk about these terms is asnested- versus crossed-factors. Shows how each level of one independent variable is combined with each level of the others to produce all possible combinations in a factorial design.

Did manipulation of the independent variables cause changes in the dependent variables? However, 2x2 designs have more than one manipulation, so there is more than one way that the dependent variable can change. In the middle panel, independent variable “B” has a stronger effect at level 1 of independent variable “A” than at level 2.

In the bottom panel, independent variable “B” again has an effect at both levels of independent variable “A”, but the effects are in opposite directions. One example of a crossover interaction comes from a study by Kathy Gilliland on the effect of caffeine on the verbal test scores of introverts and extraverts [Gil80]. We agree with Greene (2015) that mixed methods research can be integrated at the levels of method, methodology, and paradigm.

Again, because neither independent variable in this example was manipulated, it is a non-experimental study rather than an experiment. The advantage of multiple regression is that it can show whether an independent variable makes a contribution to a dependent variable over and above the contributions made by other independent variables. As a hypothetical example, imagine that a researcher wants to know how the independent variables of income and health relate to the dependent variable of happiness. This is tricky because income and health are themselves related to each other. Thus if people with greater incomes tend to be happier, then perhaps this is only because they tend to be healthier.

The more one knows and thinks about the primary and secondary dimensions of mixed methods design the better equipped one will be to pursue mixed methods research. First, we showed that there are there are many purposes for which qualitative and quantitative methods, methodologies, and paradigms can be mixed. Inclusion of a purpose in the design name can sometimes provide readers with useful information about the study design, as in, e. G., an “explanatory sequential design” or an “exploratory-confirmatory design”.

Retain a copy for your files. This is a non-refundable purchase which allows a one-time use of these plans for theconstruction of one house does not represent the transfer of any ownership interest of any plansto you. Complexity, then, not only depends on the number of components, but also on the extent to which they depend on each other (e. g., “one approach affects the formulation of the other”). This is a Resolution II design - there are only two letters in the second component and we should be able to do better. If we want to delve deeper into our model, we can also use thesummary() function to get more information about model fit statistics, parameter estimates, random-effects, and residuals. If we want to delve deeper into our model, we can also use thesummary() function to get more information about model fit statistics, parameter estimates, random-effects and residuals. If you are not familiar with those terms/issues, then the ezANOVAcode is probably the best option for you.

Even if you aren’t roaming around the deep Valley, ’Saj is worth the trek. This Lebanese bakery/restaurant in Granada Hills has an excellent menu with over 70 different items on it, but the chicken shawarma should always be your first move. Perfectly marinated with just the right amount of char on the outside, this is shawarma that makes you involuntarily close your eyes and briefly forget about the 150 other things you have to do today. Also, be sure to order some baked goods like the crunchy, cheese and onion-filled saroukh. La Cocina Mediterránea also serves hummus, which can be ordered three types of ways, including spicy and loaded with beef shawarma.

CHICKEN WINGS (GRILLED)

Nackoud is also eager to remodel the kitchen and put a new falafel machine and shawarma spits to use. The bowls are served more like plates with a side of zesty fattoush salad sans pita chips to pair with a heaping of fluffy yellow basmati rice. La Cocina Mediterránea’s falafels offer a good crunch and an even better taste. They can be ordered with tacos, bowls and wraps or a la carte from six- to 24-piece options. Beef shawarma strips come tender, slightly fatty and are delectably seasoned while the chicken shawarma is juicy to the bite.

The family’s story is as intricate as the food. Armbay and Dotee adapt the Syrian recipes from their mother, Nawal, though both of their parents are Circassian by heritage. Their journey underpins the impetus for the brothers to create their weekly pop-up. I’m very happy for a weekly destination for homey fatteh … and equally curious to see how the direction of the brothers’ Syrian-Circassian cooking will keep evolving. This week’s review is about Nawal, a weekend backyard pop-up in Solano Canyon, near Dodger Stadium.

THE SPOTS

Located right on Melrose in the Fairfax District, they’re a total neighborhood spot, but one with food good enough to leave your neighborhood to eat. The chicken shawarma is marinated in their special house sauce and has a slight sweetness to it that separates it from other great spots in LA. You can get it with pita, baguette, or laffa, but we recommend just doing the plate. At $22, it’s definitely on the pricier side, but the portion size is massive and good for two meals, easily. Marouch has been in operation since 1982, and is one of the city's longest-standing Armenian/Lebanese restaurants. And while many people come to this Hollywood strip mall spot for their incredible mezze (the muhammara will change you), no meal is complete here without an order of their beef shawarma.

NBC Chicago's Food Guy Steve Dolinsky passed through Bridgeview recently, when he stumbled upon a tiny strip mall, with some of the best shawarma around. Tried Hummus Shawarma with beef and 6 pieces of falafels. Next to the liquor store’s cashier, a customer hit a call bell twice in summoning La Cocina Mediterránea’s cook to bring out his to-go order.

Restaurants to Try This Weekend in Los Angeles: April 26

La Cocina Mediterránea carried over much of the old staples from BP Grill, but the heart of its menu is Mediterranean, which focuses on falafels, shawarma and salads. In general, eateries paired with liquor stores are a rarity in the county. A husband-and-wife duo split responsibilities between the liquor store and kitchen, respectively. On weekends Kamal keeps his business — located near the intersection of Hollywood and Vine next to a tattoo studio and a juice bar; Peggy Lee’s Walk of Fame star is right in front — open until 3 a.m.

Their flagship in Encino looks like any other fast-casual lunch counter, but the quality of the food here stands out like a pair of Crocs at a wedding. As early as 11am, a line forms out front and a majority of the people waiting are getting their beef shawarma. Order it as a hefty pita pocket and it’ll come stuffed with a generous portion of shaved, marinated meat, garlicky yogurt, and chopped tomatoes and cucumber. The beef option usually sells out by 3pm, but the equally juicy chicken shawarma is a worthy runner-up. Ta-Eem is one of those places that you’ve either never heard of, or you’ve been going to twice a week for three years.

As for their commitment to shawarma, Abunijmeh said in an area where there are dozens of options, they don’t think twice about spending the time on the labor to hand-stack their cones each day. Driving down Harlem Avenue south of the Stevenson Expressway offers dozens of delicious eating options. Shawarma House offers delicious dining, takeout and delivery to Milwaukee & Brookfield Wisconsin. Shawarma House has been recognized for its outstanding Middle Eastern cuisine, excellent service and friendly staff. But La Cocina Mediterránea is true hidden gem where a full kitchen meets a classic convenience store, at least for now as Nackoud is readying remodeling plans. Amid the din of dings, La Cocina Mediterránea stood out as one of the unlikeliest places to munch on flavorful falafels and savory shawarma in Orange County.

A trio of salads — tabouleh, Greek, sumac — rounds out its offerings. Finding good shawarma in LA isn’t difficult—but finding great shawarma is. Here are 11 restaurants where you can lose yourself in shawarma bliss. One nice touch is fresh olive and pickle bar, featuring crunchy carrots, cauliflower and other pickled veg. Cooks will either slice the shawarma old school, with a thin, long serrated knife, or if it’s busy, they’ll pull out the electric shavers, which do the trick nicely.

Is there anything better than fire-roasted, spit-shaved meat crammed into a sandwich or piled on a plate with rice, salad, and hummus? Popular theory suggests that the vertical spit arose in Turkey. Now the practice has spread all over the world, with many variations in the Middle East.

Kamal has been working at shawarma stands since he was a teenager. Before arriving in Los Angeles in 2021, he was living — and making shawarma — in Venezuela, where Syrians have been migrating and creating a community since the late 19th century.

Shawarma isn’t only for the wee hours though. The spits have been turning and the shawarma is already crisping. “The round sesame bread, which is our signature, it’s called the Bashka. We put bell peppers, mushrooms, corn, olives and it’s on the grill, with your preference of American cheese or pepperjack cheese,” he said.

The larger variations are made using a familiar Los Angeles staff of life — big, thin flour tortillas. They admirably stand in for khubz, the papery bread traditionally used for shawarma. Fatteh is to breakfast as shawarma is to late-night nourishment. Adham Kamal, who took over Hollywood Shawarma just over a year ago, grew up in As-Suwayda (sometimes also spelled Sweida) in southwestern Syria, about 70 miles south of Damascus and near the Jordanian border.

A group of construction workers in orange reflective vests walked into Buena Liquor Market, which shares space with the restaurant’s kitchen, triggering its doorbell before loading up on chips and beer. More than one friend from across the Arab world asks for their shawarma to be rolled in only one side of the pita. It was designed to be compact and intense in flavor.

Is this the best shawarma in Los Angeles? Los Angeles Times

shawarma house

With locations in both Westwood and downtown Santa Monica, Sunnin is an LA institution and easily our favorite option for shawarma on the Westside. Both the chicken and beef are equally delicious, so try both and then fight with your friends over which is better. If you’re really hungry, definitely go with the plate (it comes with hummus, salad, rice, baba ghanouj, labneh, and soup), otherwise, the wrap is ideal for a quick meal on your lunch hour.

CHICKEN KOOBIDAH

Bound by a thin but sturdy pita bread toasted on both sides, the wraps are stuffed with sour Lebanese pickle strips, French fries, pungent garlic sauce and a filing of choice inside. I’ve tried a lot of middle eastern food and it was alright. However, shawarma house is one of the only places that really stood out to me. The rice is very fluffy and full of flavor and the skewer as well. The “sampler” packs beef, chicken and falafel wraps cut in half to go along with fries, pickles, chilies and an assortment of house sauces. The tray is great for gatherings or for feeding four to five people for $30 in these inflationary times.

Dr. Sandwich

Carpenter previously worked at Momed in Beverly Hills, where duck shawarma remains popular, so duck also makes an appearance on Souk Shawarma's menu. “The most popular one is the wrap, which is called in the language of Arabic the Shrak, and it’s the most traditional bread we make here,” said co-owner Mahmmod Abunijmeh. As a foodie and Milwaukee native I can honestly say this is some of the best food in the city! Quick, always delicious, and the staff is great. I eat here more than I'd like to admit, haha. For now, being paired with a liquor store gives La Cocina Mediterránea a distinct convenience in offering a drink menu more expansive than most.

Always greeted with a friendly smile and the food is awesome!! But the falafel and kebab were also delicious. For first timers at La Cocina Mediterránea, patrons order at the restaurant counter but pay at the liquor store cashier right next to it. You choose from lamb, beef or chicken, sliced fresh. Then, either stuffed into pitas or stacked into sandwiches or rolled up in thin, lavash-like wraps. Open since 2017, Al Basch is one of the newer restaurants on this list, but when it comes to a quick, affordable meal in Hollywood, this order-at-the-counter spot on Sunset is already one of our favorites. As the name suggests, chicken is the star of the show here, and whether you’re in the mood for shawarma, kebabs, or whole chicken, Al Basch is making the best in the neighborhood. The shawarma itself has a subtle tanginess that we love, and if you order it on a plate, it comes with an excellent side of rice and salad (two things that tend to be afterthoughts at other spots). Also, get an extra side of hummus—it’s very good.

The Food Guy: Yemeni coffee expansion in the Chicago suburbs

Building on the Middle Eastern menu at Bavel, Saffy’s serves food worthy of a special occasion with the energy of a neighborhood spot. Getting a table at this glamorous kebab house in East Hollywood might take some work, but the thrill of eating here makes the fuss worth it. One of the dishes we always save room for is the shawarma. It’s filled with a mixture of perfectly marinated lamb and beef, neatly shaved into thin slices from a rotating wood-fired spit, then wrapped inside fresh laffa so it can be eaten sandwich-style. A bit of tomato, lettuce, tahini, spicy ajika sauce, and sumac-dusted onions are layered in for contrast—all of the textures and flavors work together like a family on a whitewater rafting excursion.

If we had to pick one shawarma in LA to reign supreme over its cone-shaped kin, it’s the mixed lamb and beef combo from Sincerely Syris (formerly known as Hollywood Shawarma). Thinly shaved and tender as filet mignon, each slice at this Syrian-owned spot is rich with a peppery potpourri of spices. But the real magic is how the whole thing comes together in the pan-grilled wrap—the tender meat is coated in nutty tahini for a combination that literally melts in your mouth. Hollywood Shawarma also makes fantastic chicken shawarma, and if you’re hungry, you could probably finish one of each in a sitting. This counter-service operation has a takeout window right along the Walk of Fame, with a couple of stools scattered across the sidewalk. Drop by for a quick, casual lunch or a late-night dinner steps from Hollywood and Vine.

Perfectly barbecued and covered in a special house marinade, it’s sweet and salty with just the right amount of spice. When it comes to great shawarma in LA, it doesn’t get more classic than Skaf’s. The tiny, order-at-the-counter Lebanese grill in North Hollywood has been operating for almost two decades (they have a second location in Glendale as well). Both the chicken and beef shawarma are equally good in our book, so just do what we do and get the mixed plate. Be sure to throw in a cabbage salad and some stuffed grape leaves, too—both are excellent. The vertical spits are clearly the stars at Hello Shawarma, wedged between a Hello Hookah and a Hello Thai in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it mall along south Harlem Avenue.

Kamal has been working at shawarma stands since he was a teenager. Before arriving in Los Angeles in 2021, he was living — and making shawarma — in Venezuela, where Syrians have been migrating and creating a community since the late 19th century.

Tampa Cruise Port Terminals: Ultimate Guide for Port Tampa Bay

port tampa bay cruise terminal 6

Plus, it’s easy to get to the cruise ship from either location on embarkation day. One of the best things about cruising from Port Tampa Bay is that parking is both convenient and inexpensive compared to other ports in Florida. For example, while parking for the Port of Miami is upwards of $20+ per day, you’ll only pay $15 — and at some lots much lower — to park for a Tampa cruise. To attract more customers, hotels around Tampa Port offer free parking spaces in exchange for their services, including staycations and night stays. All you need is to book a room and have a parking slot set apart for you.

Security and Check-in

No matter which option you choose, selecting a hotel with a shuttle can take a lot of the headache out of getting to the ship on embarkation day. See our article for a full list of Tampa hotels with cruise shuttles. Simply visit the port’s webpage on Tampa cruise parking, select the cruise line you’re sailing on, select the date of your departure and you will have 3 options.

Cruise Parking

Tampa InternationalAirport (TPA) is 9 miles northwest of the port. Transfers by taxi take about 20minutes, depending on traffic conditions on the I-275. Cruisers will be askedto wait in various allocated points around the ship. When your group is called, you can head to the gangway to disembark.

Terminal 6 – Celebrity, Royal Caribbean

This includes multiple terminals with a constant stream of ships, lots to do in the area, more convenience, and fewer headaches than dealing with a larger port. Just .3 miles from the Channelside Bay cruise terminal in Tampa, Park Connect has no hidden-fees in their pricing. The cost is $10 per day plus tax and again, there are no service fees.

Tampa's cruise terminal, located near downtown, offers a convenient departure point for cruises to the Caribbean and beyond. Explore the city's rich history, visit cultural attractions, and enjoy the waterfront ambiance before setting sail from this vibrant departure point. We suggest trying to find a hotel in downtown Tampa or in Ybor City. Staying here essentially adds another port of call to your cruise with lots to do and explore.

Perfect if you have kids, the aquarium will get them up close and personal not only with fish, sharks, and turtles, but also wildlife like otters, lemurs, and more. In our opinion, if you have a couple of hours before or after your cruise, it’s a can’t miss attraction. Hotel Tampa Riverwalk also provides valet parking at a fee and a shuttle service for free. However, the shuttle is only available for destinations within a 3-mile radius.

Convenient Port Canaveral “Park & Cruise” Hotels

With an advance payment, your parking slot is booked, and a valet is allocated to your car. Positive impressions start from the moment the cruise guests arrive at the modern, award-winning Tampa International Airport. When you search online for cruise parking at Port Tampa Bay, you will see ads for several booking agents. These online agents don’t own parking lots (or transport vans in most cases). Instead, they have agreements with local hotels, parking facilities, and transport companies to sell parking spaces/transfers online – often at a discount to the consumer.

Carnival ships here have passenger capacity between 1000 and 2600, and generally operate on Western Caribbean roundtrip itineraries. Port's strategy is not homeporting mega-ships, but rather attracting smaller and recently refurbished vessels with itineraries to easy-to-reach destinations. In 2014 were handled a total of 888,343 cruise passengers via 198 ship calls. If you’re going on a cruise out of Tampa and need some helpful advice about the Tampa cruise port, we’ve got you covered.

Here the menu changes every week, so you’ll always be able to get something different. Featuring the best New York style pizzas anywhere other than New York is Eddie & Sam’s, located on Twiggs St in Tampa. They even use water shipped directly from New York to make the dough more authentic. Located in the heart of the Ybor city district where you’ll find a large Latin community is the Columbia Restaurant.

At Port Tampa Bay, they offer several parking options, including hotel parking. Here is a map of the cruise terminals and parking garages/lots at Port Tampa Bay. Transportation options from Tampa International Airport to the cruise port or hotels include taxis, ride-sharing services, and private shuttles. Some hotels provide shuttle services, and there are also dedicated shuttles available specifically for cruise passengers. Despite the lack of notoriety, Port Tampa Bay offers a ton for cruise passengers.

May to August is the peak period, but the weather can be quite hot. January and April is much cooler, although hotel prices tend to be higher than the rest of the year. This recently-renovated terminal is located a short distance from terminals 2 and 3.

While the location of the port is convenient for cruise passengers with lots to do and places to stay just a few minutes away, there is one drawback. When you head out to sea you will leave Tampa and head out of Tampa Bay, passing between St. Petersburg and Bradenton. In addition to residential amenities and services, Hampton Inn provides you with a free cruise shuttle service to the port.

Additionally, Hilton Garden Inn features an onsite restaurant for all your cooked-to-order meals. It will cost you $15 to have your car at Carpark for 24 hours, with an additional valet fee of $20. However, the park offers a free service to people with disabilities. Alternatively, you can take an airport rideshare service or taxi readily available to drop travelers to the Port Tampa Bay Terminals.

Finally, remember that your body senses the movement of the ship relative to the earth at large, so viewing the distant land or the horizon will help you keep your balance and position centers in sync. If you start to feel queasy, stop what you’re doing and head for an exterior deck. If you reach a point where you need to lie down, lie on your back. Ginger capsules, another remedy for sea sickness drawn from eastern medicine, have been very effective for me in both preventing and treating sea sickness. For many years they were my go-to until I started experiencing some heartburn and acid reflux with them. I still pack them (along with some antacids) for every cruise and use them along with herbal patches on extra rough sea days.

Side Effects

Wearing an acupressure band around your wrist is another natural way to alleviate sea sickness. If you want to take pressure-point therapy one step further, forego the band and seek out an acupuncture specialist. Our onboard spas have acupuncture technicians who will help you relieve your motion sickness.

What are the most common side effects of the scopolamine patch?

Alternatively, some patients were successfully treated by leaving the last scopolamine patch on for a week uninterrupted, supplemented with meclizine 25 mg orally every 8 to 12 hours on day 5 and beyond as needed. At the end of 72 hours, each scopolamine patch still contains 0.5 mg in the patch reservoir. Neither Baxter Healthcare nor Novartis were able to provide pharmacokinetic data for use beyond 72 hours.

Drug Abuse and Dependence

The symptoms resolved when she continued with new patches and reappeared after she took the patches off. I do know that laying down helps with seasickness a great deal and to put an ice pack or a cold can of soda on the front of your neck to calm the feeling of wanting to vomit. If your cabin is low and more midship, it will get the least motion. I've never cruised before and don't know if I'll have seasickness. I am already planning to bring sea bands, ginger candies, Bonine and dramamine. I have never needed any of these things before but I brought some of them on the Amtrak train.

Available only by prescription, Transderm Scop is preventive and not a treatment that can also cause possible side effects such as dry mouth, blurry vision, drowsiness and dizziness. One of the most widely recommended remedies is Transderm Scop, which is a scopolamine nausea patch applied behind the ear at least eight hours before exposure and is effective for up to three days. It may sound like the last thing you want to do, but keeping your stomach full by eating small meals and snacks throughout the day can help ward off nausea from seasickness. There are a few itineraries and seasons for which even the most sea-hardy among us might proactively take along a supply of patches. It's better to be prepared and not need them than to suffer through a rough ride without any relief. For example, I met a woman who put on a patch during her first cruise. She discovered several hours later, as she was putting makeup on that the pupil in one of her eyes was fully dilated — the eye on the side where her patch was placed.

Of the 17 remaining patients, all used the patch for postoperative nausea control because of prior difficult experiences. The patches were applied for 4 to 72 hours, with the average duration being 42 hours. All these patients found the scopolamine patches to be very effective and experienced no nausea or vomiting as compared to their previous surgical experiences. None of these patients experienced any signs of withdraw symptoms after the patches were stopped. Scopolamine patches are often used to help prevent nausea and vomiting caused by motion sickness and some medications. These patches, worn behind the ear, may cause some side effects.
